A communication tower is a type of signal transmission tower (also known simply as a signal tower) designed primarily to support signal-transmitting antennas. They are utilized by sectors such as mobile network operators (e.g., China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom) and transportation satellite positioning systems (GPS).

Communication towers are categorized into ground-based towers and rooftop towers. Regardless of whether the tower is erected on flat ground, a hill, a mountain, or a rooftop, its function is to elevate communication antennas.

These towers are constructed from steel components-including the tower body, platforms, lightning rods, climbing ladders, and antenna mounts-and undergo hot-dip galvanization for corrosion protection. They are primarily used for the transmission and broadcasting of microwave, ultrashort-wave, and wireless network signals. To ensure the proper functioning of wireless communication systems, antennas are typically placed at the highest possible point to extend the service radius and achieve optimal communication performance. Since communication antennas require towers to gain the necessary elevation, these steel structures play a vital role in communication network systems.
