Steel structural supports for substations are primarily classified based on three dimensions: structural configuration, component type, and functional purpose. Key categories include portal/pi-shaped (π-shaped) frames, steel pipe or lattice columns and beams, and specialized equipment supports.
Portal frames: Composed of two vertical columns and a single crossbeam, forming a "portal" (or "gate") shape; suitable for single-layer equipment layouts and commonly used for standard voltage levels and open sites.
Pi-shaped (π-shaped) frames: Feature a three-dimensional structure resembling the Greek letter "π," formed by connecting the tops of columns with multiple crossbeams or diagonal braces; suitable for multi-layer equipment arrangements or areas with dense incoming and outgoing lines, offering high space utilization.
Special variants: Include multi-span portal frames (continuous spans), corner portal frames (for line redirection), and A-frame structures (single column with two diagonal braces).
